Description
Aleppo is a really fun spice to work with, and is easily substituted for other spices such as paprika, chili flakes, or even sun-dried tomato. We love to stuff it in dates with sausage and wrap them with bacon then smoke them for an hour. The saltiness and touch of mild heat work well with the rich sweetness of the date and the mild heat makes the dish available to even the most delicate palette.

Note: Aleppo is one of the few spices we offer that is not certified organic because the region where it’s harvested (and where it’s grown to taste the best) doesn’t have farmers who have gotten their certifications (at least we haven’t found them and we’ve looked since 2011). However, we have searched far and wide and believe this to be the best Aleppo out there. It has no additives at all – so no salt, no oil, which is rare.

We have used for turkey burgers and even for popcorn and we are getting addicted to it ! We had purchased the small can, but should have gotten a bigger one ! Now, the flavor is pleasantly spicy and refined ! It does not have to be used just for Middle Eastern dishes ! Very good find.
