We’re sometimes asked what spices are in our allspice blend. The answer is that allspice is a spice all on its own. Contrary to popular belief, allspice is not a mixed blend of different spices, rather its a dried unripe fruit from the “Pimenta dioica” evergreen tree native to Central America and the West Indies. It was named allspice because it tastes like a combo of cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg.
We don’t add anything, because it’s beautiful in its natural state. It has a soft, sweet clove flavor and is excellent for baking, sweet dishes and savory meals too. We use it in many of our blends: Apple Pie Spice, Pumpkin Pie Spice, Ras El Hanout, Ethiopian Berbere, and Baharat to name a few.

Really delicious and noticeable in recipes. I put a pinch in some homemade dijon mustard, and it gave it a really homestyle good flavor, and I used it in a beef stew, and it made the beef taste deliciously sweet along with the other spices.
