Ancho is simply a sun dried poblano pepper, which is similar to a green bell pepper with slightly more heat. Ancho has a wonderful rich flavor with notes of coffee and chocolate. It is a fantastic spice and essential to chili con carne and mole. Ours is organic and from the USA.
I bought the 1 lb. package of ground organic ancho. I use this with guajillo to make my own chili powder. The quality and flavor are excellent. It is very hard to find organic dried ground peppers for a reasonable price. I also appreciate PinchSpiceMarket’s quick delivery.
