A must have for your spice cabinet, bay leaves are the spice that tie all the flavors of a dish together. They work really well when you are cooking something for a long time, like a braise or sauce. Bay leaves add a floral and sweet element flavor element. They keep for a long time if they are kept out of direct sunlight.

A note about sizes: 2 ounces will last a home cook for many months, if not a year. One pound of bay leaves is a lot and will come in a very large bag.

    Big beautiful bay leaves!
    Yes, 2 oz may seem like a small amount, but when talking bay leaves it’s quite a bit.
    I make soup every week during the winter, as well as lots of homemade bone broth, and I always double the amount of bay leaves in the recipe because I love it so much.
    The interesting thing about these is that, while they are 2-3x larger than the size bay leaves you would get in the store, the aroma seems much lighter and more subtle. Hoping the large size balances out the flavor. Of course I won’t know for sure until they’ve been used, but my first impression is good and I’m excited to try them.

    We got the 4oz bag because there was hardly any difference in price and we won’t have to buy bay leaves for a long time. You can tell that these are much fresher and higher quality than what you get at the store by smelling them. And it’s nice to know that they are organic. A staple for almost any soup or broth that we make!

    I love opening the packet of bay leaves. The scent is wonderful, and so, when you use them, is the flavor they impart. I use them every time I cook and sort of legume, which is often, so I was happy to get them in a large enough packet to last me for a while.

    I use bay leaves frequently, especially in Winter for soups and homemade chicken pot pie, etc. The flavor of these huge bay leaves is soooo much better than the drab little pieces that usually come from the organic grocery store brands. Growing up, my mom and grandma put bay leaves in everything, even ground up for homemade seasonings, so I’m pretty picky about my bay leaves. More often than not, I’m so disappointed with the grocery store bay leaves and most times they are broken, which isn’t ideal. I always stock up on Pinch’s when I order because I go through them so fast. They are about as close to fresh off the plant as you could get. Highly recommend.
