What is Chili Crisp? Short answer, a condiment that you can use just like you would simple chili flakes. Longer answer, an amazing mix of chili and spices that can be mixed with hot oil to create a delightful Asian style chili oil. Either way this is great added to ramen noodles, fried rice, eggs, stir fry, and even pizza. There are many versions of this spice mix from Japanese togarashi and Indonesian sambal to Chinese chili oil. We used all of these and more as we developed this recipe. What we settled on is a mix of aromatic spices, freshly dried chili flakes with garlic, onion and sesame for crunch. Whether you use it dry or mixed into oil, we know you are going to love it.
While this isn’t super hot, it does pack some heat, especially when mixed with oil. We also have a limited addition super hot version, Falls City Reaper, that adds in some super hot chilis grown right here in Kentucky. Chili Crisp flavor profile is

This is an amazing idea! I’ve always wanted to make homemade chili crisp, but didn’t want to buy all of the individual spices. This makes it easy and tasty. It’s a little different than chili crisp I’ve had before, but it tastes amazing. Very cinnamon heavy in the smell, but not in the taste!

Wow, I am thrilled with how my chili oil turned out! I didn’t follow the recipe the first time and ended up burning the spices– if you’re making this at home, make sure to follow the (extremely easy) instructions! After experimenting more (and following the instructions), I found that adding a little salt and sugar (about 1/4tsp each) to the oil while it heats is a great addition. This was so easy, it’s totally organic, the spices are excellent quality, and there’s no chemicals or weird preservatives. I’ll never buy pre-made chili crisp again! I can’t believe how fresh this spice mix is. I will be returning for my other spice needs, not just specialty items!
