Love spicy Ethiopian food? This is for you. This 16-ingredient blend combines fiery peppers with balancing cooling and sweet tones. It goes well with goat, lamb, chicken, beef, pork, eggs, veggies, sausages and stews. Our favorite non-traditional thing to do with it is to make an aioli and serve it on BLT sandwiches.

We love to have fun, but we take our spices very seriously and when we make a blend we like to take things to the highest level possible. As the great Nigel Tufnel says so perfectly, “These go to eleven”. This blend fully represents Pinch’s commitment to taking things to eleven. It’s an authentic berbere that has an addictive spicy kick and highlights some of our best organic spices. When we were making our Ras El Hanout, we used this blend to get our toes wet as we navigated the sea of spices used.

I LOVE Ethiopian style food, but love their spice Berbere more! I wanted to try it first, so I purchased the tin. I am over the moon with delight! I will definitely purchase again. I look forward to trying this spice with different veggie stir fry. It’s great with lentils and heavy cream blended in a blender to make a smoothie (add a couple different veggies with it). Gotta give this one a chance!

This is yet another great North African spice mix with a tremendous culinary and taste profile lineage behind it, and Thomas once again delivers!

I put some of this spice in some homemade bone broth (beef and chicken) and it seemed very hot at first but my mouth quickly got used to it and loved it. I love how the packaging bag is clear and stands on it’s own so when I’m working with my funnel and cake tester to get the spice into the jar, it’s easier. The cake tester helps the spices go down the neck of the funnel and then when the jar is half full you can use it to stir the spices which helps them to pack down into the jar a little better so it will hold more. But while doing this I rubbed my eyes. Don’t do this! This spice has bird’s eye pepper in it. My eyes stung and hurt a little bit. Good thing I didn’t have much on my hands. Definitely worth it, though. So much artistry goes into the choice and proportions of spices coming from this company’s spice blend. They are really nuanced. And you have the security of knowing they are organic and non-irradiated.

Love love LOVE this mix. I’ve been craving Ethiopian food forever. Now I can make it at home. The whole house smells amazing when I use this. Add it to butter and swirl it in lentils and doro wat here I come. It brings the spice and heat but nothing you can’t handle.

We can’t say enough about this blend. My wife Valarie and I have the food blog Unstoppable Foodie and quality spices are an integral part of the elevated dishes coming our of our kitchen. My wife Valarie who is a home chef is addicted to spices. She has over 400 different spices in the kitchen and she is slowly converting them all over and sourcing as much as we can from Pinch spice. The quality of their spices and spice blends are beyond. compare. This berbere is at the top of our list. Valarie uses it in so many recipes, last night it was used on Marcus Samuelsson’s Fried Yardbird with chicken shake seasoning. Use this berbere blend along with the smoked paprika made this dish “next level.” Order some of their amazing spices today. You will love them!!

Everyone talks about how spicy this is, and considering it contains bird’s eye pepper, I’d anticipated something extremely HOT. Instead I’m happily amazed that I don’t find it hot/spicy at all – just simply adds a magnificent flavor. I’m adding it to scrambled eggs even – soo delicious. Also love the fact you name all the ingredients. A competitor lists a few, then adds “spices” – what!? I want to know what ingredients I’m consuming. Thank you for such a wonderful product.

I got the spice lovers 3-pack on eBay, and this is by far my favorite of the three spice packs we got. I used it to make my own kind of indian style dish, and also made some barbecued chicken with it. It smells amazing.

Really enjoyed this one.
Just arrived in time to make a classic Berbere out of my Turkey leftovers and wow.
Sautéed meat with Evo, then added tomato paste, coconut milk, lemon juice, chicken stock, and salt.
Such an amazing tangy, spicy flavor. Bravo Pinch team. I have a half dozen other blends to try.

This blend is wonderful, and with authentic bird’s eye pepper (and three other peppers too for a wonderful and full flavor), plus all the other spices needed for the complete profile. This spice blend is absolutely marvelous! Tons of character and just a little bit of heat, it brings such life and authenticity to even a simple pot of rice and beans. It’s a fascinating and novel blend that absolutely transports your dish. I can’t wait to cook with it again.
