The classic salt of French cuisine, grey/gray salt is evaporated in clay ponds, which gives it a blueish hue and an almost wet texture. The flavor of the ocean permeates and gives this salt a briny flavor. This is our personal everyday (yet luxurious) salt.

Ingredient: Grey salt

Description

Origin: France

Please note salt cannot be labelled as certified organic because it is not “grown”, rather it is wild harvested.

How lovely, not just in flavor but also in texture and appearance! Less salty than standard sea salt, with a fairly complex flavor you wouldn’t expect from a sea salt.
This wonderful salt will be perfect to use in recipes that are more simple, without lots of spices and flavors. For my own personal use, it might be a bit light as a daily salt, and I certainly wouldn’t want to waste it in baking recipes, but as a specialty salt to be used throughout the week it will be perfect. I’m especially looking forward to using it in recipes that might need just a hint of saltiness, as it seems it would be hard to overdo it with this nice, light salt.

I don’t even know how to describe this product, because it’s salt, what more is there to say? But there is a depth of flavor in this salt that is… just indescribable and so delicious. I’m not even sure what to use it for because it feels like a special occasion thing but I’m endlessly excited to use it.

Love it! It tastes, well, salty, with a slight mineral tang

I’m in love with this French Grey Salt! I have used a tin and a couple of the 4 oz packages, so I have used it for awhile now! I like how easy it is to get just a “pinch” of salt from the tin and sprinkle it on. The textural feel in your fingers is an experience in itself and then once you taste it there is a slight coarseness that quickly dissipated followed by a mild salty taste with the depth of ocean undertones. Just perfect! I upturn Grey French Salt along with an olive oil from Greece and your That’s Amore as a dipping oil for my homemade artisan bread!
I also use your Grey French salt in soups, on Turkey burgers and a hint on chicken sausage! Just perfect! Thank you!

Excellent all round salt. I love dry brining ribeyes with it.
