Ethiopian Tibs-Simple and Authentic Recip
I don’t know why I waited so long to make this staple Ethiopian dish. I order it pretty much anytime we are out for Ethiopian food and it showcases the quality of our Berbere spice. You can make this dish in under an hour and make it with just a few basic ingredients.
- Prep Time: 15 minutes
- Cook Time: 50 minutes
- Total Time: 1 hour 5 minutes
- Yield: 2-4 servings 1x
- Category: Main Dish
- Method: braising
- Cuisine: Ethiopian
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound beef sirloin or chuck cubed
- 2 Tablespoons plus 1/4 teaspoon Ethiopian Berbere
- 1 Tablespoon course sea salt
- 2 medium onions sliced thin
- 6 cloves garlic minced
- 1 inch of fresh ginger minced
- 1 can of diced tomatoes
- 5 Tablespoons butter
- 1 Tablespoon cooking oil
Instructions
- coat the beef with course salt and 1/4 teaspoon Ethiopian Berbere
- in a medium pot or small dutch oven on medium heat, melt butter

- sauté until onions are soft, stirring occasionally
